Hold Me Safe
In my arms, I let her settle,
Felt her heart, so small, so tired.
Every breath she took, she sank into my soul,
Her turmoil swirled within, a storm untamed.

“What do you need?” I asked, as she held me tight,
“Love, safety, to be held,” she whispered, soft and light,
“Please hold me. Don’t leave me,” her voice, a fragile plea.

So I laid in bed and held my inner child,
Held her close, all day, through her silent protest.
She didn’t just want rest; she needed peace,
Utterly exhausted, yearning for release.

“My child, rest now, you are safe,
You are loved, no harm will come your way.”
In that embrace, her fears began to fade,
In my arms, she found a sanctuary made.
