Our charity partner is Camp Cadi, a summer camp for girls traumatized by childhood sexual abuse. A volunteer-run organization, Camp Cadi is the first of its kind, created specifically to meet the unique needs of young girls whose lives have been impacted by CSA.
The word “cadi” is Gaelic for “simple happiness.” When children are sexually abused their childhood is stolen, and the most significant mission at Camp Cadi is to give each girl the opportunity to experience the simple joys of childhood again. The camp provides a safe space for typical camp experiences, expressive arts, and a mentor program that lays a foundation for trusting relationships with adults.
As an organization, ChantLanta is happy to add to the greater momentum of this mission, as well as the collective dialogue around something that affects us, all in different ways. We hope the attention we bring to this issue will foster meaningful dialogue and change in all of our lives, towards the collective healing that all humans need around this issue. Supporting Camp Cadi is affecting change not only for the campers, but also for their families and for future generations. We can all be a part of breaking the cycle of sexual abuse.
